Nightstand

This project actually started in the “second chance corner” of an IKEA store. There, I found this cabinet door with a thin cork layer on the front side and tought this would be the perfect top surface for a nightstand.

In IKEA’s second chance corner, you can buy slightly damaged or showroom items at a reduced price. With a bit of luck, and creativity, this can actually be a great source of affordable materials!

For the base, I decided to use rebar as a material as this is also rather cheap and very durable. I welded this into a simple frame, and decided to spray paint it orange, to give this rough material a more playful appearance. I also included a middle shelf made from a scrap piece of plywood that is attached to the frame with invisible 3D printed clamps.
